Gearing Up: My Favorite Gardening Supplies

There is something so hygge (hue-gah, Danish for cozy) about sitting inside on a cold, rainy day flipping through gardening catalogs with a good candle lit, dreaming of being in your garden in a few short weeks.

Do you recognize my Cut Flower Guide in there?! I made a few hard copies for people who requested them.

Do you love doing this too?? It’s my absolute favorite March activity. It can brighten just about any gloomy day and fill it with quite a bit of hope.

I’m seeing little boutiques filling with spring decor, I’m seeing the buds on the trees starting to swell just a little, my chickens are laying normally again (and WOW do I love the new breeds I added last fall!!! Did you see the colors of those eggs?! ), and the days are indeed getting longer.

No more 5 o’clock sunsets. HALLELUJAH.

All of these things have us all starting to feel the buzz of the inklings of spring. Which makes people like me so excited to try out new garden gear, stroll the seasonal aisles of stores, pick up a few new seed packets, etc. Just SO antsy for spring and to see a little green outside.

Do you feel the same way?

If so, I’ve curated a little list of all of my favorite home gardening things. From my go-to garden shoes, to my darling little acrylic window bird feeder, to my metal garden arches, I’ve compiled it all for you in case you’re feeling the same enthusiasm for getting your garden going.

If you follow me on instagram, you know my window bird feeder brings me an inordinate amount of joy. I should probably start a separate bird watching account but until then ya’ll are just gonna have to deal with it, or order one for yourself and watch your kids and dogs enjoy it just as much!! It’s actually magical and everyone should definitely have one. You might just find yourself exclaiming, “oh a bluebird, what a treat!” while your husband looks at you like you’ve gone looney.

Which I maybe have.

One of my other favorite things are these inexpensive solar water bubblers. They add the sweetest sound in the garden, and the birds love them (insert my husband’s eye roll, not the birds again🤣). They just recycle the water you put in any vessel (bird bath, shallow planter, bowl etc) and just bubble when sunlight hits it! Its the best little addition to any backyard garden.

Flip through these favorites of mine and shoot me a message if you end up trying one of them. I’d love to hear what you got!

We are so so so close to gardening season, ya’ll. I am truly just as excited for my own home garden to be up and humming as I am my full-scale flower farm. There is something really magical about your very own little place, your own little hideaway that just is different than anything else. Let’s get ready for some spring magic, it’s coming!
